This author is so incredibly readable, his titles are quotable and his books are now classic period pieces. When Perry Mason was solving crimes he had a bottle stashed in every cranny, everyone smoked cigarettes, having a heater in a car was a luxury option, two way radios had just come on the scene, and flash photography was ‘high-tech’.
